HDR Decode

HDR (High Dynamic Range) technique that is used to reproduce a greater dynamic range of luminosity.

STARBOX processes HDR videos of different formats to HDMI output, upgrading normal TV to HDR TV.

Real 4K Decoding Capability

4K is abbreviation for Ultra HD, also short for UHD, has a resolution of 3840×2160, pixel count of 8.29 mega-pixel, which is four times the resolution of Full HD. Smart Box can automatically convert 4K HDR video to Full HD output.

There are many falsely claimed 4K on market. For Example:

  • 4K resolution but only P30 processing which is half of the capability. Only P60 can present the full potential of 4K.
  • Needs 10 bit color depth, other products only have 8bit (256 colors). Our STB is 10 bit (1024 colors), so there is a major difference in the color processing.
  • If STB can decode 10bit, but only output 8bits, the it is also not true 10 bit.
  • Only 4Kp60 10bit decoding of various format, VP9, H.265, H.264…are true 4K.
